The Masterworks Series is the heart of the FMSO. Led by Music Director Christopher Zimmerman, these concerts bring our mission to life through exceptional live performances that inspire and connect our community.
As we celebrate our 95th Season, Masterworks continues a tradition that began in 1931 when the FMSO was founded as a community ensemble. Today, the orchestra is made up of more than 65 professional musicians, many of whom live and work throughout the Fargo-Moorhead region.
Each Masterworks program is thoughtfully crafted to showcase the breadth and power of orchestral music, from the timeless works audiences know and love to underrepresented composers, contemporary voices, and premieres. Whether experiencing a familiar favorite or discovering something entirely new, audiences are invited to explore the richness of the orchestral repertoire through performances of the highest artistic caliber.
