For nearly a century, the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra has been enriching our region through the power of live orchestral music.

Officially founded in 1931—with roots tracing back to community music-making efforts as early as 1918—the Symphony has grown from a local ensemble into the largest professional orchestra in North Dakota.

Today, the FMSO is made up of 65 rostered musicians, many of whom live, work, and teach in the Fargo-Moorhead community. Their talent and dedication help make professional orchestral music an essential part of life in our region.

At the center of our work is the Masterworks Series, where audiences experience everything from beloved orchestral classics to contemporary compositions and new artistic voices. These performances showcase the highest standards of musical excellence while creating meaningful connections between musicians and audiences.

Beyond the concert hall, the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony serves as a cultural leader and community partner. We collaborate with local organizations, provide opportunities for musicians and ensure that orchestral music remains accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

As we celebrate our 95th season in 2026–2027, we remain guided by a simple belief: great music strengthens communities.
