FM Symphony Launches “Small Stages” – A Chamber Music Series Bringing People Together in Unique Local Venues
Tickets are available now for three unforgettable concerts blending world-class artistry with immersive community experiences.
Fargo, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra announces the launch of Small Stages, a chamber music series designed to bring world-class performances to unique venues throughout the community. Formerly known as Fun-Size concerts, this reimagined series offers audiences a fresh way to experience classical music.
“As we continue to innovate and connect with our community, Small Stages allows us to bring music into spaces outside the concert hall,” said Lucas Wood, Executive Director of the FM Symphony. “These concerts are about creating memorable experiences—where the music and the audience come together in a truly special way.”

Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra Presents The Phantom of the Opera with Live Orchestral Score
FARGO, N.D. On Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 PM, the Fargo Theatre will come alive with one of cinema’s classics. The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra will present a special concert in collaboration with the Fargo Theatre featuring the 1925 silent film The Phantom of the Opera with live orchestral accompaniment.
This iconic silent horror film, an adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel, was directed by Rupert Julian and stars Lon Chaney in his role as the Phantom. Known for its groundbreaking makeup effects and gothic atmosphere, the film has captivated audiences for nearly a century.
The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra will perform a live classical score compiled and conducted by Jane Linde Capistran. Capistran’s soundtrack includes Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Mozart’s Requiem, Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre and more. The performance will also feature historical commentary by Greg Carlson, Concordia College Film Professor, and organist, Andrew Steinberg.

Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra announces Lucas Wood as Executive Director
The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra is excited to welcome Lucas Wood as its new Executive Director, effective June 1, 2025.
“I look forward to building on the rich history of the FMSO,” Wood explained of his acceptance of the position. “My husband, Jordan Holcomb, and I feel warmly welcomed in Fargo-Moorhead and we look forward to making it our home.”
Wood joins the FMSO from the Galesburg Symphony Society & Knox-Galesburg Symphony (Illinois), where he has served as Executive Director for ten years. A Galesburg-area native with a background in opera performance and business development and management, Wood brings a wealth of experience in orchestra leadership and arts administration to the Fargo-Moorhead community.
“I’m excited to work with the staff, board, patrons, and the broader community to build a strong and sustainable future for the FMSO,” said Wood. “We will continue to deepen the orchestra’s ties to the region and keep presenting top-quality concerts.”
